L’Aeroporto di Orio, dista a soli 3 km dalla città di Bergamo, e confina con i comuni di Orio al Serio, Grassobbio, Seriate e Azzano San Paolo, oltre alla città di Bergamo.

Spotting points…
Punto 1 : Posto all’altezza del raccordo Fox – pista 10, è sicuramente un punto molto interessante dove fare fotografie nelle fasce orarie pomeridiane, soprattutto nelle ore del tardo pomeriggio. Questa posizione non è molto usata dagli spotter locali (anche se dal punto di vista fotografico è molto buona) in quanto per il 90 % delle volte la pista in uso per l’atterraggio risulta essere la 28, e non la 10 (che viene solitamente utilizzata in caso di vento contrario e/o fascia notturna per il rumore).Consigliamo a chi volesse sostare in zona di parcheggiare l’auto vicino al cimitero del comune di Orio al Serio e dotarsi di scaletta treppiedi. I vari punti siti in testata 10, si trovano sulla strada di uscita dall’aeroporto.
Punto 2 : Posto di fronte al piazzale dell’aeroporto di Orio al Serio, situato sul parcheggio multipiano questa posizione offre una buona prospettiva di tutto il piazzale (settore Ovest), e permette di fare buoni scatti in rullaggio e decollo oltre che sul piazzale durante tutto l’arco della giornata. L’unica nota stonata risulta essere la barriera frangivento che ai più precisini potrebbe creare qualche problema in quanto compare nella parte bassa del fotogramma. Si può raggiungere il posto tranquillamente a piedi (non c’è alcun bisogno di scalette treppiedi) e/o in auto parcheggiando direttamente all’interno del parcheggio multipiano.
Punto 3 : Definito dagli spotter locali “Parcheggio Elicotteri” situato nel comune di Grassobbio ( Via Matteotti 1 ) vicino appunto ad un hangar di manutenzione mezzi SACBO; è lo spotting point ideale per tutta la giornata ad esclusione del tardo pomeriggio. Questa posizione permette di poter fotografare e filmare tranquillamente i rullaggi degli aeromobili che entrano sia per il raccordo Bravo che Alfa e seguire l’atterraggio degli aeromobili sulla pista 28. La posizione offre un ampio parcheggio ed è meta nei week-end di genitori con bambini in quanto offre un’ottima visuale dei movimenti aerei. Consigliata anche qui una scaletta treppiedi.
Punto 4 : Posto sempre nel comune di Grassobbio, è utilizzata solo nelle fascie mattutine (in estate questa posizione risulta essere buona fino a mezzogiorno), in questa location si fotografano solo i rullaggi che transitano lungo il raccordo Alfa. Dotarsi di treppiedi e parcheggiare l’auto non lungo la testata pista ( è vietata la sosta ) ma nella zona industriale di Grassobbio.
Punto 5 : Situato nel comune di Seriate, utilizzato solo d’estate e nelle prime ore del mattino (06.00-08.00), utile per fotografare i voli courrier che partono in queste fascie orarie. La posizione offre una visuale della testata pista 28, e gli aeromobili vengono fotografati durante l’allinenamento in pista poco prima del decollo. Per raggiungere la posizione dotarsi anche qui di treppiedi e parcheggiare l’auto non lungo la testata pista ma nella zona industriale di Grassobbio. Pianificare un 5/10 minuti di camminata a piedi lungo tutta la perimetrale della testata pista 28.
Lungo poi tutta la zona Nord dell’aeroporto ci sono diversi altri punti di osservazione ma non li elenchiamo in quanto situati in pieno controsole.
Come potete ben notare non abbiamo specificato le lunghezze focali, consigliamo comunque focali che vanno dai 50 mm ai 200 mm; per nostra fortuna gli aeromobili risultano essere molto vicini ai punti di osservazione elencati, anzi diremmo quasi che sorgono dei problemi di focale nel caso di presenza di aeromobili di classe wide-body!!!

The airport of Orio, is just 3 km far from the city of Bergamo, and borders the towns of Orio al Serio, Grassobbio, Seriate and Azzano San Paolo, in addition to the city of Bergamo.

Step 1: Set near of the taxiway FOX – runway 10, is certainly a very interesting point where you can take pictures in the afternoon time, especially in the late afternoon. This position is not much used by local spotter (even if the photographic point is very good) because the 90% of the time the runway use for the landing/take off is 28, and not the 10 (which is usually used in cross winds and / or for night-time noise). Recommend to anyone wishing to stay in the area to park the car near the cemetery of the town of Orio al Serio and pick-up its ladder. The various points tested in 10 sites, are on the road leaving the airport.
Step 2: Place the square in front of the airport of Orio al Serio, located on the parking car this position offers a good perspective of the apron (western sector), and allows you to make good shots as well as takeoff and taxiing on the apron during throughout the day. The only discordant note is the windbreak that could create some problems as shown in the bottom of the frame. You can reach the place safely walk (there is no need for ladders tripods) and / or car parking within the parking car directly.
Step 3: Defined by the local spotter “Helicopters Parking” located near the town of Grassobbio precisely near to a maintenance hangar helicopters spotting point is good for all day except for the late afternoon. This position allows you to photograph and film quietly taxiway aircraft entering for both Alpha and Bravo point cross, which follow the aircraft landing on runway 28. The location offers big parking and is popular on weekends for parents with their children as it offers a good view of aircraft movements. Recommended also here a ladder.
Step 4: Place in the same town of Grassobbio, is used only in the morning (in summer this position appears to be good until midday), in this location you can only photograph aircraft taxiway passing along the Alfa point intersection. Equip yourself with ladder and do not park your car along the runway (it is forbidden) but in the industrial area of Grassobbio.
Step 5: Located in Seriate town, used only in summer and early in the morning (6:00 to 08:00 am), useful to shot courrier flights that depart in these time slots. The location offers a view of runway 28 and aircraft are photographed on the line-up shortly before takeoff. To change the position need adopt a ladder and park your car not along the runway, but in the industrial area of Grassobbio. Plan a 5/10 minute walk on foot along the perimeter of runway 28.
Then along the entire northern area of the airport there are several other points of view but all are located against the sun.
As you can see we have not specified the focal lengths, however, suggest that focal range from 50 mm to 200 mm, fortunately for us aircraft appear to be very close to the observation points listed, indeed we might say that problems arise in the case of focal presence of wide-body aircraft class!!!
